ICCS is the oldest and largest academic Research Institute in Greece. It is a non-profit research organisation to support the values, mission, strategic goals, and priorities of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). It specializes in decision support services for energy, renewables, efficiency, and climate change.
Main role in the project
In CLIMRES, ICCS will be the Scientific Coordinator, leading requirements analysis and architecture design activities, as well as buildings vulnerability and capacity assessment.

CARTIF is a leading Spanish applied research center. As a Foundation, its goals include identifying technology needs, supporting innovation in SMEs, and disseminating R&D results. CARTIF conducts R&D projects, focusing on Industry 4.0, Energy and Environment, Construction and Infrastructure, Agrofood, and Health and Quality of Life.
Main role in the project
In CLIMRES, CARTIF will lead activities focused on building resilience to ensure the development, deployment, and validation of CLIMRES solutions for climate-resilient buildings and cities. CARTIF will also develop the Decision Support System (DSS) at the building stock and city scale, and lead services related to climate resilience for heat waves and policy recommendations.

Frederick Research Center’s Sustainable Energy Research Group (SERG) conducts research in sustainable energy technologies and building physics, focusing on experimental and computational approaches. Operating within Frederick University and Frederick Research Center, SERG is involved in research projects, laboratory and consulting services, and teaching activities under the university’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Main role in the project
In CLIMRES Project, SERG is advancing disaster preparedness and resilience through vulnerability analysis and impact assessment. Their research examines how hazards affect building utilities and functionality, using assessment tools, historical data, and hazard models to evaluate risks at a neighborhood scale. A key focus is integrating Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, ensuring resilience strategies are cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. Additionally, their work includes developing a framework to assess building vulnerabilities and seismic performance. Using visual surveys of existing buildings, they analyze structural integrity under various seismic scenarios, providing data-driven insights for stronger, more resilient infrastructure.

EUROPEAN CENTRE FOR MEDIUM-RANGE WEATHER FORECASTS is a world-leading intergovernmental organization for global Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP), support ed by 35 Member and Cooperating States. As both a research institute and a 24/7 operational service, ECMWF produces advanced weather forecasts, operates a world-class supercomputer facility, and manages one of the largest meteorological data archives.
Main role in the project
In CLIMRES, ECMWF brings expertise in Cloud Computing and AI/ML technologies applied to Earth Observation and Earth Modelling. They lead efforts in synchronising CLIMRES with Copernicus and the EC Destination Earth (DestinE) programme, ensuring seamless integration of Copernicus data. Additionally, ECMWF is designing and implementing a Cloud Computing Infrastructure to support CLIMRES services, driving innovation in federated data exchange.

The International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) is a public R&D center specializing in computational engineering. Established in 1987 as a consortium between the Catalan government and UPC, CIMNE focuses on generating knowledge and solutions in computational mechanics. As a CERCA Centre, it promotes excellence in research and technology transfer. Within CIMNE, the Building Energy and Environment (BEE) Group is an autonomous department founded in 2001. Comprising over 20 researchers, the BEE Group focuses on enhancing energy efficiency in buildings and the environment through big data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Main role in the project
In the ClimRES project, CIMNE leads the Barcelona pilot, concentrating on assessing heat waves in the city. By identifying the most vulnerable areas, CIMNE aims to enhance urban resilience and inform targeted interventions to mitigate the impacts of extreme heat on the population.

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) pioneers advanced measurement methodologies for thermal and mechanical precision across industry, the built environment, and human comfort. Meanwhile, the Department of Civil, Building Engineering, and Architecture (DICEA) focuses on conserving and retrofitting existing structures to mitigate risks and enhance evacuation strategies during critical events such as earthquakes, floods, fires, and overcrowding. They also develop interactive and intelligent systems to optimize building performance and manage smart built environments.

In the CLIMRES Project, they contribute by integrating cutting-edge thermal comfort measurement during extreme climate events, providing personalized recommendations to end-users, and strengthening building resilience against floods. Their work leverages multi-modal sensors, VR/AR technologies, and real-time geospatial applications to enhance disaster preparedness and emergency response—fostering a more climate-resilient future for all.

Founded in 2006 as a University of Athens Spin-off (Informatics and Telecommunications Dept.), Mobics exhibits significant expertise and specialization in a broad spectrum of technologies. The company collaborates with enterprises, ICT integrators, public organizations, universities, and research institutes, creating new technology and science-based innovations through R&D projects in various application domains. Mobics is involved in the design, implementation, and provision of value-added services and custom applications focusing on smart cities, crisis management, culture, and education, along with the provision of ICT consulting services.
Main role in the project
MOBICS will participate in the implementation of Decision Support Systems (DSS) for building resilience and protection against fires in wildland and urban areas. Additionally, MOBICS will lead Task 4.5 – Operational Level Service, which involves the development of tools for buildings’ disaster preparedness and emergency response, focusing on fire detection, emergency response, and smart evacuation strategies.

RINA Consulting specializes in testing, inspection, certification, and engineering solutions across a wide range of markets, including marine, energy, real estate, infrastructure and mobility, space and defense, and Industry 4.0. With over 20 years of experience in research and innovation, RINA aims to drive innovation that makes businesses more resilient, efficient, and agile in response to market changes.
Main role in the project
In CLIMRES, RINA Consulting conducts hazard modeling, asset characterization, and case study characterization activities, focusing on building-level resilience analysis and the implementation and validation of CLIMRES results and solutions for the case studies.

DEMO Consultants is an independent consultancy firm, with real estate information management as its core specialisation. It consists of three units, Consultancy, Software, and Research. It provides its clients with optimal choices for creating and managing real estate, innovative software products, such as TE Suite for design, asset, real estate, and maintenance management. In addition, DEMO develops software models in the area of sustainable development, management, renovation and reconstruction, as well as energy savings.

In CLIMRES Project , DEMO brings in its expertise for data management and decision support tools, leading pilot’s operation, monitoring, and evaluation, where the project’s solutions will be implemented in the demonstration cases. In addition to participating in vulnerability analysis and impact assessment, financial assessment of climate vulnerable buildings with LCC, and strategic and tactical level services for building resilience solutions.

IMZI Blue-green Infrastructure Institute is a private, independent, and non-profit research institute dedicated to developing and promoting innovative blue-green infrastructure for sustainable water management and environmental protection. Their expertise spans urban water cycle management, risk reduction through nature-based solutions, and urban resilience planning.

In CLIMRES Project, IMZI is developing an urban flood resilience application that integrates blue-green infrastructure measures to enhance flood protection in cities. Designed for a broad range of users, including residents, the application will serve as both a practical tool and an awareness-building platform, fostering the wider adoption of nature-based solutions for more resilient communities.

Founded in 1972, ZARIFOPOULOS S.A. provide services in Design, Installation, and R&D projects. Their expertise includes fire detection and suppression, security systems, access control, video analytics, and smart building energy management and automation. Backed by a team of 200+ specialists, they deliver innovative solutions to clients across industries.

Main role in the project
In CLIMRES, ICLEI will lead the activities aimed to ensuring replication and scaling up of CLIMRES results. Additionally, ICLEI will support by facilitating capacity building, knowledge transfer, and policy support by leveraging and complementing initiatives such as Copernicus and DestinE.

The Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (IMU) is an independent local body with its own legal status and administrative autonomy. It has the authority to carry out any actions that are directly or indirectly related to the management of urban planning projects approved by municipal bodies, including all necessary urban development work. IMU is responsible of comprehensive planning, managing construction works, spearheading urban regeneration programs, and promoting the rehabilitation of urban areas.
Main role in the project
In the CLIMRES Project, IMU provides the pilot building where the technical solutions will be tested in coordination with the Retrofitting Programme interventions being implemented. IMU will coordinate the deployment of these proposed solutions, ensuring their feasibility and alignment with urban planning regulations. Through its local office in the Besòs neighbourhood, IMU will also coordinate the necessary consensus and compliance with neighbours and stakeholders.

Ecoserveis is a non-profit strategic innovation consultancy specialising in energy. Since 1992, they have committed to bridging the gap between energy and society, providing solutions and strategies to promote a fairer and more environmentally sustainable energy model. By understanding the socio-economic, cultural, political, and gender factors that influence citizen engagement, Ecoserveis helps empower communities to make smarter energy choices.

Sustainable City Network (SCN) is a non-profit organization founded in 2017, supporting 80 Greek municipalities, academic institutions, and regional bodies. SCN promotes sustainable development, environmental protection, circular economy, and energy transition by providing technical support for EU funding and project implementation. Through research, innovation, and policy initiatives in waste management, tourism, agriculture, and energy efficiency, SCN strengthens cooperation, sustainability, and economic development among its members.

In CLIMRES Project, Sustainable City Network (SCN) leads the Greek pilot, enhancing resilience to wildfires and earthquakes by providing technical expertise, stakeholder coordination, and municipal engagement. SCN will facilitate the deployment of innovative risk assessment tools, support data-driven decision-making, and ensure the transfer of best practices to its network of municipalities in Greece and its broader EU network.

Picharchitects/Pich-Aguilera is an architectural firm with an international focus and headquarters in Barcelona founded the firm 1986. They have developed architectural projects, works and planning in the private and public sphere, with the aim of providing technology and innovation in the field of construction and sustainability. Within the framework of the circular economy, we develop innovative products and construction systems, industrialized, and with low environmental impact.
